The Inspiration Tree®

An art-based programme with a difference!

Challenging the false narrative about the oppressed Muslim woman!

Participants learn about iconic Muslim women from the time of the birth of Islam 1500 years ago, reflecting on what the lives, attributes and achievements of these women teach us about being a Muslim woman and how we can apply this learning to our own lives as we create a compelling vision for our future. The reflections and insights are captured on individual Inspiration Trees…deeply personal artwork that will forever remind participants of the legacy their predecessors left behind and the lessons in personal leadership relevant to Muslim women today.

Khadija bint Khuwaylid

A wealthy business woman and beloved wife of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) Khadijah proposed to him because she was impressed by the Prophet’s character!

Rufaydah al Aslamiyah

Recognised as the first female Muslim nurse, Rufaydah was caring for injured soldiers and training other nurses about 1,200 years before Florence Nightingale became famous for tending to the wounded during the Crimean War.

Ashifa bint Abdullah

The first Muslim woman to hold public office, Ashifa was appointed as an officer in the administration of the marketplace in Madinah. She was responsible for ensuring all business practices were conducted in line with Islamic values and rulings.

You really did tap into who you are. I think it is very reflective.

Fatema

Prior to this programme, I was at a real standstill for many years, but now I’m more sign-posted as to where I want to go and how I am going to develop further.

Laila

I am a Muslim woman but I never knew about all these wonderful women in Islam. It was eye opening for me. This programme made me stronger.
